Buddha Calling
Sarnath  where Buddha first gave his lessons.

ndia is a fortunate land where Gautam Buddha spent his life gaining spiritual enlightenment. The Gangetic plains of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh are dotted with several places that have stood testimony to many turnarounds in Buddha’s life, which made him the creator of one of the most tolerant religions in this world. This tour is a spiritual journey through important Buddhism relevant historic sites with a combination of spiritual learning and meditation. Its Buddha calling and when he calls, it’s the call of the God!

  • Day 01: New Delhi: Welcome to India. Evening sound and light show at Red Fort. 
     
  • Day 02: New Delhi: Daylong sightseeing of Old Delhi (Shahajahanabad) and Lutyen’s Delhi (New Delhi). Evening free to shop around busy Connaught Place.
     
  • Day 03: Varanasi: Fly to Varanasi. At Varanasi, walking tour of a few Ghats and narrow backlanes to feel the pulse of this most sacred city of India.
     
  • Day 04: Varanasi: Early morning boat ride on river Ganges to witness holy rituals on Ghats. A very spiritual experience! Day tour to Sarnath where Buddha delivered his first sermon. Relic depicting last days of Buddha.
     
  • Day 05: Kushinagar: Take a long drive to Kushinagar through  fertile plains of Uttar Pradesh. Kushinagar is the place where Buddha expired and was cremated. Visit the various sites associated with Buddha’s last days notably the Cremation Stupa and Mahaparinirvana Temple.
     
  • Day 06: Patna: In the morning drive to Patna. After checking in keep the day completely at leisure. 
     
  • Day 07: Rajgir: Visit Nalanda what was once the World’s greatest university. Visit the extensive remnants of the university that clearly give an idea of its glorious period. Further drive to Rajgir, it was once the capital of Magadha empire. Budhha had spent 12 years of his life here and there are several sites associated with this.Mahabodhi Temple where Buddha attained enlightenment.
     
  • Day 08: Bodhgaya: Drive to Bodhgaya. This is the most important Buddhist site in the world as Buddha attained enlightenment here. In a guided tour, visit the Mahabodhi temple and the site of Bodhi tree. Also visit a few of the several monastries raised by the governments of various Buddhist countries.
     
  • Day 09: Kolkata: Board early morning Rajdhani Express to Kolkata. On arrival check in your hotel. During the day, take a sightseeing tour of the city that includes visits to Victoria Memorial museum, Indian Museum, BBD Bagh buildings, Haora Bridge, Belur Math and St.Paul’s Cathedral. Later in the evening, visit its buzzing bazaars or its many famous art centers.
     
  • Day 10: Departure: Early in the morning, take a walking tour of Maidan area to watch Kolkata waking up- jogging, aerobics, yoga sessions, meditation, chats, trams, horse rides at race course, etc. against the historic backdrop of buildings like the Victoria Memorial. At appropriate time, transfer to international airport to board your flight back home.
