Tea gardens in Darjeeling

omancing India is surely a long-term affair. Take east India for instance. There is steam train that still climbs the Himalayas. Now it is part of world’s heritage. On these smoked misty hills are the best tea gardens of the world. Orchids and flowers abound on the beautiful Himlayan heights that are overlooked by sky-piercing Kanchenjunga peak. Buddhist monasteries, paddy sweeped valleys, mighty Brahmaputra River and one horned Rhinos are just very few reasons to prompt a visit this part of East India. There is much more in the east.

  • Day01 - New Delhi: Welcome to India. Evening sound and light show at Red Fort. 
     
  • Day02 - New Delhi: Daylong sightseeing of Old Delhi (Shahajahanabad) and Lutyen’s Delhi (New Delhi). Evening free to shop around busy Connaught Place.
      
  • Day03 - Darjeeling: Fly to Bagdogra to be transferred further to Darjeeling, queen of hills and home to the best tea growing estates of the world. Rest of the day at leisure.
      
  • Day04 - Darjeeling: Option of waking up early and catching spectacular glimpses of Kanchenjunga peak alongwith several others at sunrise. Famous toy train of Darjeeling During the day, visit a tea garden, Ghoom Monastry, Mall Road, Botanical gardens and Ribetan refugee center.
      
  • Day05 - Darjeeling: Whole day at leisure. Take a fascinating mountain toy train ride that passes through several loops and bridges. It is now listed among World heritage sites by UNESCO. Day to be enjoyed relaxing in cool and peaceful atmosphere of the place or walking through the scenic Mall road.
     
  • Day06 - Pelling: Drive to West Sikkim town of Pelling, a beautiful town peaceful perched on a high ridge. The sight of snow capped mountains on both sides is bewitching.
     
  • Day07 - Pelling: Visit Pemayangtse monastry which is one of the oldest  and most important gompas of Sikkim. The three storey impressive structure has beautiful paintings and sculptures inside. Also explore the ruins of Rabdentse, Sikkim’s second capital, in a peaceful walk through a winding forest track. The place is perfect for hiking.
     
  • Day08 - Gangtok: After a picturesque drive, reach Gangtok the capital of Sikkim. After some leisure, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Chorten Gompa (Monastry) and Tsu La Khang (Royal Chapel which is Buddhist’s principal place of worship and assembly).The Kagyu gompa at Rumtek.
     
  • Day09 - Gangtok: Visit the Rumtek Gompa, one of the largest, wealthiest and liveliest Buddhist monastries. Spend some time  appreciating the architecture and interesting religious activities of the Gompa. Later, visit the famous Orchid Sanctuaries of Sikkim as the state is well renowned for its virtual treasures of orchids. Evening completely at leisure.
      
  • Day10 - Kalimpong: At Kalimpong, check in and after some leisure visit notable attractions of this extremely beautiful; hill resort that includes its Gladioli flower nurseries, Dr.Graham’s unique school, sericulture institute and Gompas.
     
  • Day11 - Guwahati: Drive down to Bagdogra airport and take flight to Guwahati- gateway to the North Eastern India. Day at leisure with options to visit the Kamakhya and Umananda temples.
     
  • Day12 - Kaziranga National Parkkaziranga National Park: Drive to the unique wildlife preserve known as Kaziranaga National Park. After checking in your resort, indulge yourself watching informative wildlife film.
     
  • Day13 - Kaziranga National Park: Early morning expedition to the grasslands of the park on elephant backs to closely watch the one horned rhinoceros in the wild. At noon visit the western part of the park in jeeps, this part is more famous for birds.
     
  • Day14 - Kaziranga National Park: The day to be used to twice explore the park and its diverse wildlife in a combination of tours on elephants and jeeps.
     
  • Day15 - Kolkata: Drive to Guwahati and subsequently catch the flight to Kolkata. At Kolkata check in and have leisure. Later in the evening, visit its buzzing bazaars or its many famous art centers.
     
  • Victoria Memorial in Kolkata.Day16 - Kolkata: Early in the morning, take a walking tour of Maidan area to watch Kolkata waking up- jogging, aerobics, yoga sessions, meditation, chats, trams, horse rides at race course, etc. against the historic backdrop of buildings like the Victoria Memorial. During the day, take a sightseeing tour of the city that includes visits to Victoria Memorial museum, Indian Museum, BBD Bagh buildings, Haora Bridge, Belur Math and St.Paul’s Cathedral. Evening gree for last day’s shopping.
      
  • Day17 - Departure: Day at leisure till the time of departure. At appropriate time, transfer to airport to catch onward flight.
