Bodh Gaya

It’s the most important spot on Earth for the Buddhist world. It was here that Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a tree. Both the tree and the adjacent Mahabodhi temple are a great attraction for spiritual seekers and for those seeking a sense of history. Bodh Gaya is in Indian State of Bihar and there are many other places some distances away from Bodh Gaya which are associated with the time when Buddha lived and the time when his teachings were actively guiding the governance and education.

Lucknow represents a captivating era falling between the time when the Mughal Dehli had lost its importance and India was still not being ruled under direct British crown. It was a time of carefree indulgences, artistic expressions, poetry, fancy foods and architecture. In Lucknow, a traveller may expect to touch upon many such beauties tangibly and many even more intangibly. Lucknow continues to be a city of grace, mannerisms and delicate formalities.

Khajuraho

It’s the best place to see how the Hindu temples of North India used to be in the classical era just before they started getting destroyed due to invasions. The site remained hidden for centuries before being discovered as an architectural splendor worth preserving. These masterpieces are fascinatingly designed and they have the most expressive sculptures adorning the exteriors from top to bottom. Most importantly, the sculptures help us understand the prevailing society and the various aspects of lifestyle of those times.

The Bhopal city itself represents a culture of its own as it was ruled by female Muslim rulers for long and there is much to see and feel in terms of architecture, food, culture and social etiquettes. Kutchh

Kutchh in any bucket list is for satisfying the urge to have seen & experienced something quite unusual. Kutchh is for the landscape in the white salt plains, adapted lifestyle which is full of colours & embroidery arts and for the seemingly emptiness in the long drives for one little village, temple or ancient archeological excavation spot. The mighty Rann (shallow salt water marshland expanse) convincingly looks like having the capacity to eat away or distract entire armies just the way it is spoken about in the legends.

Tanjore – Kumbakonam lie on the fertile plain of Cauvery river from where the ancient Tamil civilization, empires, arts, architecture, habits and even the language emerged. This is the area known for the giant towering gateways (Gopurams) and the sprawling Hindu temples. These temples are like mini villages in themselves with many having even bazaars inside. There is so much to see & learn in this part and a full yet relaxed appreciation will require several days of exploring with expert guides. They built the houses for accommodating large undivided families but they rarely practically stayed together because of their enterprises taking them far & away. However, their houses bear testimony to their adventures with fine things brought back from all over the Globe.

A sprawling site like Hampi in a landscape strewn with boulders needs to be understood as a ruined and forgotten metropolis of its time; a grand capital of a large and powerful Vijaynagara empire. Had it not been systematically destroyed by the Bahmanis after its only defeat, this city would have in fully intact state be able to tell much more. What the travellers say about our Indian Tours

Testimonials

Not only every corner of India but our guests have travelled with us to even Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

I recently travelled to India solo to do birding and tiger safari. From the moment I reached out to Indian Moments (Neeraj) to the moment I entered the Delhi airport to travel home, Indian Moments was right alongside me. They very thoughtfully created an itinerary that met my interests, my schedule and my budget.

Once in country, they ensured that I travelled from place to place with safety and comfort. They arranged a wonderful naturalist guide, KD, who was an expert in my interests (birds and mammals).

The accommodations were perfect given the way I like to travel and the food spectacular. Truly one of the best trips of my life. There are many tour operators in India, and Indian Moments sets themselves apart with their timely, comprehensive and personalized command of both the fantastical (birds! tigers! Himalayas!) and the logistical. Both are required ingredients for a perfect holiday.

Caroline, USA. December 2024

We contacted Indian Moments, when we wanted to explore Central India for six weeks in January and February, 2024. From the beginning, Neeraj and his team worked diligently, using, as an outline, our wishes but also suggesting places they knew we should not miss. Every step was carefully planned, and, in the end, we enjoyed the trip of a lifetime.

We visited bustling cities (Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Bhopal,) but we also enjoyed the peace and the incredible wildlife of several national parks (Gir, Little Rann, Kanha, and Tadoba.) Encounters with Asiatic Lions, Bengal Tigers, and even the Indian Wild Ass, are indelible in our memories. It wasn’t only the planning that made this trip so memorable. While the two of us were in India, the Indian Moments team communicated with us nearly every day, asking how the experience had been and also giving us the names and phone numbers of our guides for the coming days.

We were aware that they were in constant contact with the hotels where we were staying, assuring that we had arrived safely and were being treated well. We celebrated Susan’s birthday during the trip, and each hotel was aware of this; as the date approached, several hotel hosts celebrated with us, providing cake, music, and many good wishes. One of the hotel managers told us that Neeraj “always has great concern for his guests.” Even on the last day of our long trip, we began thinking of where in India we would want to go next, and we have already begun discussions with Nerraj and Indian Moments about our future travel. We had been treated as royalty and, now, we regard these fine people as part of our family. We cannot imagine embarking on a trip to India without the care and guidance of Indian Moments.

Susan and Dennis Carlyle Houston, Texas, USA. 10 April, 2024

Hi Neeraj,

My apologies for not writing this email sooner but things have been a bit busy since I returned to Melbourne. I enjoyed my trip very much. It was a good match of adventure and relaxation which suited me well. Southern India is beautiful and Donna and Lisa were great company.

I very much appreciated the skills of our driver and the local knowledge of our guides. I especially enjoyed the Kerala Backwaters and Fort Kochi, but the entire trip was well planned and organised. I have even forgiven the ‘road’ to the highest tea plantation. The hotels you selected had great character and were very comfortable. I was impressed by the kind and helpful staff at every location.

The crew of our rice barge were particularly memorable (as was the food they provided). I hope to return to India and hope it will not be another ten years before I do so. Kind regards and best wishes.
